Long ago there was a boy whos mother died. His father married another woman who had two little boys. The stepmother didn’t like the boy for he was not her own.
Winter came, and the stepmother worked hard to make nice, thick cotton clothes for her own two children. But for the boy who was not her own, she stuffed random plants in his clothes. (AKA: Phragmites australis) At one glance, the clothes that were made by cotton and the clothes made by Phragmites australis looked no different, and the father thought they were dressed all nice and warm. But the Phragmites australis was not warm at all. It was extremely cold, and so when the boy went outside, he was shivering nonstop.
One day, when the father was going somewhere, he asked the boy to guide his horse. Stinging cold wind attacked him, he was shivering oh very bad, and he dropped the rope guiding the horse. His face turned blue and he picked up the rope once again, sneezing.
His father thought that he wasn’t taking his job seriously, and so in his anger, he whipped the boy again and again until his clothes tore aprt, releasing the Phragmites australis that was inside it. He froze, looking at the unbelievable sight. Suddenly, he understood. The father stormed back home, ready to divorce his wicked wife.
“You stupud sick reason of being a mother! How dare you treat your own son like that! I will divorce you now! (ooou >:D)”
The boy couldn’t bear to see the result of this. He knelt before his father and said,”Please father! Not only will Mother suffer, my brothers will too! Please don’t divorce her, pease!”
Surprised and touched, the father said,” Boy, for your sake, I will leave her.” He turned to the stepmother and said,”If this happens again, I swear I would never forgive you!”
The stepmother understood, also touched by her stepson. And so she made him a coat filled with warm cotton, and the family lived happily ever after. -_-
